Fire alarm goes off during NBC Nightly News
A fire alarm randomly went off at the beginning of NBC’s Nightly News telecast Tuesday evening.
Host Brian Williams was opening the show on the report of American Airlines filing for bankruptcy protection before the alarm unexpectedly came on. Despite the bizarre event, it didn’t fluster Williams too much before handing the story to reporter Tom Costello.
“You’ll forgive us, we have a fire alarm announcement going on in the studio,” Williams told viewers. “Again, we have an announcement going on here in the studio. Tom Costello, we should advise our viewers there are no dangers to us. We would love to make this stop, why don’t you take it from our Washington bureau?”
