Inspired by Donald Trump announcing his moderating role for the Newsmax GOP debate on December 27, Stephen Colbert decided it was time for him to have one of his own.

On The Colbert Report Tuesday night, the Comedy Central personality dropped the big news to his audience: “I’m officially announcing my own Republican debate,” he said. “Stephen Colbert’s South Carolina Serious, Classy, Republican debate. I am doing this, you hear that Donald?”

Colbert even announced the channel the debate will be airing on.

“It is set, it will be on Animal Planet in January, and we’ll figure out the date later,” he said. “Every serious candidate is invited, they know who they are. And they have my phone number, which by the way is the most exclusive phone number in the history of the United States phone system. It’s got three 7′s and four diamonds.”

Colbert vowed that his debate would be “the most influential debate since the dawn of television,” and promised a special event when it concludes.

“It’s going to be the highest rated debate in television,” he boasted. “Why? Because whoever wins, I’m going to marry him. Televised wedding spectacular.”

It may seem like a joke, but a press release from Colbert’s Super PAC seems to indicate this maybe the real deal.

“Colbert Super PAC, also known as Americans For A Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow, is an independent expenditure-only committee dedicated to following the Letter of the Law, and letting the Spirit of the Law find its own way home,” the release said.

“It was founded by Stephen Colbert, who currently holds the rank of World’s Most Famous Living South Carolinian, and who will host the Colbert Super PAC South Carolina Debate to be held in January. It’s going to be a classy affair. Shrimp cocktail, the works.”
