On the “Worst Persons” segment of his show Monday night, Current TV host Keith Olbermann labelled the audience at Saturday night’s Republican presidential debate the “worst persons in the world.”

The crowd applauded the idea, put forth by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, of putting poor children to work as janitors in schools.

“One theme continues, the debate crowd cheering every weakness this nation has striven to correct about itself,” Olbermann commented. “Cheering everything short of human sacrifice.”

GOP debate crowds at previous debates have cheered the death penalty and letting a man without insurance die. They have also booed a gay U.S. soldier.

“Pursue happiness — by cleaning the toilets their richer classmates get to use,” Olbermann said sarcastically. “And a mighty roar goes up from the GOP crowd: ‘Yay, we love the elitist GOP candidates who want to enslave our lower and middle-class asses.’”
