Portland police say they have arrested an Oregon man for using two light sabers to assault three people at a Hayden Island Toys R Us Wednesday.

Officers responded to the scene to find David Allen Canterbury, 33, in the store parking lot still holding one of the “Star Wars” toys, according to The Oregonian.

The wannabe Jedi Knight reacted to attempts to arrest him by swinging the light saber at police and shouting incoherently. A first officer fired a taser, but it failed to bring him down. Canterbury then used the light saber to deflect the second officer’s taser wire.

The officers finally succeeded at pinning the man to the ground. After undergoing a mental evaluation at a local hospital, Canterbury will face charges of disorderly conduct in the second degree, theft in the third degree, resisting arrest and interfering with a police officer.

“To be clear, he didn’t break the wires as a real light saber might do, but he did knock the wires off of his body,” Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson told KGW.
