Texas Gov. Rick Perry was greeted at a restaurant in Anderson, South Carolina with a tremendously-backhanded compliment.

A young woman who posed for a photo with Perry on Monday told him it was “good to see someone as homophobic and racist as you,” according to Politico.

Perry’s response? He smiled for the photo and moved on.

The Republican presidential candidate released an ad last month in which he said something was wrong with the United States because the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy was repealed.

The controversial ad inspired multiple parodies. Nearly a week later Perry was asked why he hated gay people.
