The police hunt for a man wanted for pulling a gun on his neighbor ended over the weekend after the fugitive decided to give an impromptu interview to a local Mississippi news station.

WLBT reporters arrived at the house of Rodney Wayne Hill, who was involved in an overnight standoff with police, when to their surprise he walked up to them.

“Never in my 48 year career has this happened to me before,” reporter Bert Case said. “The guy just walked over that hill right there, threw his hands up in the air and said I need help. And he came down and started talking to me.”

As Case interviewed the wanted man, a photographer called 911.

Police arrived shortly afterward and apprehended him while he was still talking to Case.
