Mitt Romney has broken his recent streak of losses by winning the Maine caucus, according to a report on MSNBC.com.

The former Massachusetts governor won 39% of the vote, closely followed by Texas Republican Congressman Ron Paul, who was three percentage points behind Romney at 36%. Rick Santorum took third place with 18% of the votes, and Newt Gingrich landed in a distant fourth place, coming in at 6%.

Local caucuses began in Maine in January. Results were released Saturday evening by the Maine Republican Party.
