Perry ‘absolutely’ considering another White House bid
Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) said Monday he was “absolutely” considering running for president again in 2016.
Perry announced he was running for President of the United States during a speech in South Carolina in August 2011, after many other candidates had already been campaigning for months.
“I tell people it was by far the most exhilarating thing that I’ve ever done,” Perry told Jonathan Karl of ABC News. “In a perfect world we would have started a lot earlier.”
At the beginning of his campaign, Perry quickly jumped up in Republicans polls. But after flubbing a series of televised debates, he dropped out of the race for the Republican nomination and endorsed his rival, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) in January of 2012.
He said that the debates had “absolutely nothing” to do with governing, but provided “great political theater.”
