In continuing to insist that he wasn’t questioning President Barack Obama’s faith this past weekend, GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum brought up Obama’s former pastor Monday evening.
“Look, he went to Reverend [Jeremiah] Wright’s church for 20 years,” he told Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “I mean, now you can question what kind of theology Reverend Wright has, but it’s a Christian church. I am not going to question the president and what the president believes in when it comes to his faith.”
Obama severed ties with Wright in 2008 after the pastor refused to apologize for his controversial comments made in a sermon about 9/11. Wright’s comments made some question whether Obama was too radical for the presidency during his Democratic primary battle with then Sen. Hillary Clinton.
