Fellow student describes Ohio school shooter as nice, quiet kid

The boy who opened fire on his classmates early Monday in a high school cafeteria seemed like a “really nice” kid, but came from a broken family, according to a student.

The student told CNN that the alleged gunman “came from a really broken down home” and was living with his grandparents.

Children were preparing for class at Chardon High School when the boy began shooting at his classmates with a handgun.

The alleged gunman used to be friends with the group of classmates he shot, the student said.

“I was really shocked when I found out it was him, because he was quiet, but he was one of the nicest kids there,” he told CNN. “You could talk to him really easily, he was funny. It was just really shocking that it was him.”
