Among the many who disapproved of Rick Santorum calling President Barack Obama “a snob” for wanting kids to attend college, the most surprising critic of those comments maybe the GOP presidential candidate’s wife.

In an interview with Politico released Sunday evening, Karen Santorum shared her disapproval over her husband’s choice of words at a campaign stop in Michigan.

“He should have said what (Obama) said is ‘snobbish,’” she said. “It was a ‘snobbish comment,’ not he is ‘snobbish.’ There is a big difference. And he knows that. But everybody makes those mistakes along the journey.”

Rick Santorum expressed regret for his “snob” comments this past Friday, telling CNN it “probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do.”
