Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Tuesday was caught on camera sleeping during the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference, according to ABC News.

Video shows Gingrich nodding off during the conference and occasionally waking himself up.

“Listening to Panetta is not a relaxing experience,” Gingrich said after being awoken at one point.

After finally being introduced, Gingrich seemed unprepared for the speech he was scheduled to give to the AIPAC crowd.

“I understand you have a panel,” he said. “I look forward to any questions.”

“Mr. Speaker, there is not a panel,” the announcer responded, after 12 seconds of awkward silence. “Please do continue, sir.”

During his ensuing speech, he pledged to stand with Israel and “undermine and replace the Iranian dictatorship by every available method short of war.”
