Wednesday night on The Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert discussed the results of the Super Tuesday elections in the fight for the GOP nomination. The answer, of course, is that there is no answer and that the primary battle will drag on into the spring.

On Tuesday, Newt Gingrich carried his home state of Georgia and Rick Santorum only lost Ohio by the slimmest of margins. Any hopes that the Romney campaign may have had about tying up a clean, decisive victory this week have disappeared and the possibility looms of a contest that goes all the way to the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

Colbert brought out the “Countdown to Loving Mitt” clock and discussed the former Massachusetts governor’s supposed “inevitability.” Super Tuesday, it appears, has accomplished what wire-cutting cannot, and that’s hitting the clock’s “snooze button,” at least until this Saturday’s caucuses in Wyoming, Guam and The Virgin Islands.
