A blogger for a conservative think tank resigned on Thursday after posting a fake image of President Barack Obama dressed in green fetish-inspired club wear and straddling a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken.

John Hood, the president of the John Locke Foundation, said Thursday he was “embarrassed and angered” that blogger Tara Servatius posted the image on the think tank’s website.

“Earlier this week, a freelancer who blogs at the John Locke Foundation’s Charlotte site posted a piece about President Obama’s opposition to North Carolina’s marriage amendment,” he explained. “It included an illustration that was offensive and utterly inappropriate for our blog or anyone else’s. A reader brought it to my attention yesterday, and I had it removed immediately, but the damage was done.”

Servatius has apologized for using the image, saying it was only “meant to illustrate Obama’s southern political strategy.”

Her article attacked Obama for opposing North Carolina’s upcoming vote to ban on same sex marriage, claiming the move was purely based on an electoral calculation.

“Regrettably, I didn’t think about the racial implications of the picture when I posted it,” she said. “I simply don’t think in those terms. Unfortunately some people do. To me, fried chicken is simply a Southern Cuisine.”
