Stephen Colbert addressed the crackdown on pink slime Monday evening, describing it as “delicious wholesome meal” that is used to “form the Hamburger Helper.”

“Oh, pink slime is bad, but green slime is good to dump on our children?” the Comedy Central host said. “Pink slime is nothing more than good old beef mix with not so good older beef.”

Colbert mentioned the push by supporters of “pink slime” to call it by its actual name, “Lean Finely Textured Beef” or LFTB, in order to help its floundering public image.

“Yes, LFTB: Because our beef has so many hormones, it’s a member of the transgender community,” he said.
