Stephen Colbert offered a rare apology – or in his words, a Colbology – Tuesday evening for calling “pink slime” a member of the “transgender community” the previous evening.

“Apparently, some in the Twittersphere has accused me of being transphobic,” Colbert noticed. “So I just want to get out in front of this and say that I, Stephen Colbert, apologize to any of my transgender bovine viewers that may have been offended.”

“No matter how you were born, no matter how you identify, I want to be clear that I would be proud to grind you up and eat you.”
