Shenanigans are afoot in Sanford. Zimmerman’s attorneys held a press conference and announced that they were withdrawing as counsel. They said they don’t know where Zimmerman is; that Zimmerman is emotionally unstable; that Zimmerman called Sean Hannity (!!) and spoke to Hannity off-the-record (revealing information that he had not yet revealed to his attorneys); and the kicker — he may not even be in Florida:
The attorneys for George Zimmerman, who claims to have shot and killed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin in self-defense, said during a press conference Tuesday that they had terminated their relationship with him.
The attorneys had only talked with Zimmerman on the phone, but had planned to have face-to-face meetings.
Zimmerman called Fox News host Sean Hannity and special prosecutor Angela Corey’s office in Florida, according to the attorneys. Hannity refused to tell the attorneys what Zimmerman told him.
Zimmerman has completely avoided the media and has gone into hiding. Sonner and Uhri refused to indicate where he may be, but said anyone looking for him should look “far away from Florida.”
The attorneys said Zimmerman was “not doing well” and probably suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. They described him as being “emotionally crippled.”
Think Progress compiled a little Where in the World is George Zimmerman? video:
So that happened. Oh, and rumors are flying around in the Twitterverse that the lawyers may not actually be his lawyers because Zimmerman never signed a retainer agreement. Apparently, Zimmerman called the Special Prosecutor and told her that the lawyers were only “advisors.”
I told you shenanigans were afoot!
In my opinion, something shady is going on down there in Florida. No reasonable attorney would drop a client after only 36 hours of non-contact. Something else is up. The question is, what?
Coming up on Fox News: Are the New Black Panthers holding Zimmerman hostage? Did the New Black Panthers steal Mark Judge’s L.L. Bike?
Is it irresponsible to speculate? It would be irresponsible not to.
