Berkeley professor Robert Reich blasted Fox News host Bill O’Reilly on Monday night after the conservative pundit accused Reich of being a communist.

“It’s like being back in the 1950s,” he said. “This communist witch hunt that has suddenly been launched. The irony is that there are not even many communists left in the world today. It would be one thing if we were back in the 1950s, but there is not a communist threat.

“These right-wingers, like Bill O’Reilly, have nothing else to say, nothing else to do. They don’t have arguments, they don’t have logic, they don’t have any analysis.”

Reich challenged O’Reilly to debate him “person-to-person, like a man.”

“But he doesn’t have the guts to debate,” he added.

Earlier this month, tea party Republican Rep. Allen West of Florida described the members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus as communists.
