The Daily Show host Jon Stewart on Thursday night lampooned a proposal by New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg to limit super-sized drinks.

Under Bloomberg’s proposal, restaurants and places of public entertainment like stadiums would not be allowed to sell of cups of sugary drinks that are over 16 ounces.

“I love this idea you have, of banning sodas larger than 16 ounces,” Stewart said. “It combines draconian government overreach people love with the probable lack of results they expect.”

“What are you doing?”

He said the plan made Bloomberg’s “asinine look big” because people would still be able to order huge portions of solid food, just not drinks.
