Democrats in Ohio want residents of the state to know that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is not a Buckeyes fan.

“It’s no surprise that when it comes to making a tough call, Mitt Romney fumbles,” Ohio State College Democrats President Mallory Kimble said Tuesday. “From his plan to ‘let Detroit go Bankrupt’ and harm the auto industry that employs nearly 850,000 Ohioans, to his push to cut teachers, firemen and policemen, Mitt Romney has shown he doesn’t stand for what Ohioans care about. Mitt Romney has made it clear he’s no Buckeye.”

In an interview with WBNS TV, Romney was asked if he was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes football team.

“I grew up in Michigan, I’m sorry to tell you, but I grew up in Michigan so the Michigan teams have always placed a big part of my sports interest,” he replied. “And of course now having lived I think 40 years in Massachusetts, it’s the Massachusetts teams.”

“But I’m a fan of the Buckeye state, lets put it that way,” he added.

The Ohio Democrats uploaded a slightly edited version of the clip to YouTube on Monday. Watch below:
