Monday night on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” host Jon Stewart discussed the controversy raging in the Michigan state house wherein Democratic legislator Rep. Lisa Brown (W. Bloomfield) was barred from speaking on the house floor because she used the word “vagina” to underscore a point in a debate about Michigan’s draconian new anti-abortion law.

“Finally, Mr. Speaker,” Brown said, “I’m flattered that you’re all so interested in my vagina, but no means no.”

Stewart congratulated Brown on the “vagina zinger” — which he said is his favorite flavor of Celestial Seasonings tea — and took note of the special fear that Republican men seem to have of the v-word.

“‘Ey,” he said in his best New York Cabbie voice, “Can you believe this lady bringing up vaginas in an abortion debate?”

Then he asked, “What are they worried about? Vaginas aren’t like Voldemort or Beetlejuice. Invoking the name ‘vagina’ doesn’t make them suddenly appear. Believe me, if it did, then high school would have been very different for me.”
