“Ever hear of Murphys’ Law?,” a police investigator asked George Zimmerman, according to The Orlando Sentinel.

Zimmerman’s defense team released his written and video statements to police following his fatal encounter with 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, as well as Zimmerman’s interview with Sanford Police lead investigator Chris Serino, who was skeptical of his account.

“You know you’re gonna come under a lot of scrutiny under this, the profiling aspect of this. You understand that, right?” Serino asked.

“Yes,” Zimmerman said.

Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, has pleaded innocent to second-degree murder charges. He told investigators Martin “emerged from the darkness” and attacked him, knocking him to the ground, beating on him and going for Zimmerman’s gun, which is when Zimmerman shot Martin dead.

According to the statement, Martin told Zimmerman, “you got me” after being shot.

Video of Zimmerman’s re-enactment of the struggle to police, broadcast on Good Morning America June 21, is below:
