Televangelist Pat Robertson on Monday offered a little relationship advice to a viewer who said he had a Muslim girlfriend: just dump her.

A viewer named Brad wrote to Robertson to ask what he should do about his Muslim girlfriend because he was “worried that leaving her will turn her off to Christianity and, it isn’t exactly Christ-like.”

“Yes, it is Christ-like [to break up with her],” Robertson insisted. “In the Old Testament, they were forbidden to intermarry with the heathen.”

“No way, no way. I mean, she’ll want to do her Muslim thing,” he added. “Walk away.”

“It’s funny how we twist and turn what God’s word has to say to make it right for what we want,” 700 Club co-host Terry Meeuwsen agreed.

Robertson pointed out that “Christian” didn’t mean “whatever seems nice and friendly.”

“Jesus said, ‘I didn’t come to bring peace, but a sword,’” the televangelist explained. “He’s not gentle Jesus, meek and mild. He really isn’t.”
