Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) on Tuesday night said he was not convinced by a sixteen page report he received from his colleague Michele Bachmann about the Muslim Brotherhood.

“It’s sixteen pages worth of nothing,” he said on CNN. “It is sixteen pages worth of repeated false allegations, just regurgitated nonsense. Sixteen pages doesn’t take something and turn it into something. It is still nothing and the fact is I would hope we would let our saner, more courageous spirit prevail.”

Bachmann claims the U.S. government could be compromised by the Muslim Brotherhood because of Huma Abedin, a deputy chief of staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and wife of former New York congressman Anthony Weiner. Bachmann claims Abedin’s family is tied to the Islamist organization.

Ellison said there was no evidence that the Muslim Brotherhood had infiltrated the U.S. State Department. He said any “legitimate” threat to the United States should be fully investigated.

Ellison described Bachmann’s attack on Abedin as the “worst” type of “guilt by association” and a “stark affront to American values.”
