The current political football surrounding Chick-Fil-A’s support of anti-gay groups inspired singer Kristie Stremel to let the fast food chain know how she felt.
“Oh, Chick-Fil-A doesn’t like me cause I’m gay,” she sang on a video uploaded to YouTube. “So I wrote a little song to say: Cluck Off! You’re embarrassing yourself.”
She jokes that she will marry her partner, and at her reception “the Muppets will be there,” making reference to the Jim Henson Company’s decision to end its relationship with the Christian fast food chain.
At the end of her video, she writes “many of my straight friends have been married two or three times already… I would like to marry once.”
Equality Matters reported earlier this month that the restaurant chain had given over $1.9 million in 2010 alone to groups that oppose marriage equality and other LGBT rights. During an interview with the Baptist Press, Chick-Fil-A President Dan Cathy insisted the company was “guilty as charged,” sparking outrage in the LGBT community.
Supporters of the fast food restaurant responded to Fox News host Mike Huckabee’s call for a “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” on Wednesday, lining up across the nation to buy chicken. LGBT advocates in response plan to hold “kiss-in” protests at Chick-Fil-A chains.
