President Barack Obama again urges Congress to take action on middle-class tax cuts in a speech Friday at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

“As dysfunctional as Washington can be, this fight is far from hopeless. We saw that last week when Republicans and Democrats in the Senate agreed to allow a vote on extending the middle-class tax cuts, and the legislation passed. Now the House needs to follow the Senate’s lead and vote to ensure taxes don’t go up on the middle class,” Politico reported that Obama senior adviser David Plouffe wrote in an email to reporters this week.

The speech comes on the heels of Friday’s release of July jobs numbers, which found slightly greater than expected job growth, but also a slight bump up in unemployment.
