Stewart to debate O’Reilly in charity pay-per-view showdown

Comedy Central host Jon Stewart and Fox News host Bill O’Reilly will square off, mano-a-mano, in a pay-per-view debate next month, with half the proceeds going to unspecified charities.

O’Reilly announced the debate on his Monday night show, warning that his longtime liberal rival “is going to be taking some massive heat” on Saturday, Oct. 6 at George Washington University.

They’re calling it: “The Rumble in the Air Conditioned Auditorium.”

The longtime Republican opinion host said the event would function similar to presidential debates, but “without all the phoniness and pomposity.”

The event will be live-streamed from a website the two have set up. Viewers can access the stream for just $5 a pop.

“Thunderdome,” Stewart said in a video published to YouTube. “Two men enter, and both leave. Probably not together. Probably he’ll have his friends there, I’ll have mine. Point is this: We are gonna have an argument. It is going to be like the worst Thanksgiving anyone ever went to. I’m looking forward to it.”

“It will be a night to remember, at least for Stewart and his 18 writers,” O’Reilly added.
