Fox News contributor Liz Cheney on Thursday said the protests in the Middle East were a result of President Barack Obama’s foreign policy.

“Look the president, at best, you can say he is AWOL on this, but in fact I think what you’ve seen in the Middle East is a result of the policies of the last three and a half years — the response is a continuation of the policies of the last three and a half years,” she said.

A crude anti-Islam movie produced in the United States has sparked outrage across the Muslim world, with many violent protests occurring in the Middle East. More than 30 people have been killed in violent protests linked to film, according to the AFP.

“This is a president who if you listen to his own words, he came into office and said ‘any world order that elevates one nation above others cannot survive,’” Cheney continued. “He does not believe that America should be ascendent in the world and we’re seeing what happens when you’ve got a weakened America. We are seeing what happens. Frankly, nobody in the Middle East these days really is saying to themselves, ‘gosh, what will the Americans think.’”
