On his show Monday night, The Daily Show host Jon Stewart mocked conservatives apparent obsession with cutting funding for PBS.
He showed that Fox Business Network host Lou Dobbs had criticized President Barack Obama for advocating an end to $4 billion in subsidies for oil companies, but Dobbs was enthusiastic about cutting only $450 million from the parent company of PBS.
“Why would conservatives feel so strongly that Sesame Street has to go? I’m kind of getting the sense there might be something else going on here,” Stewart remarked, playing clips of Fox News personalities insisted the children’s show was liberal propaganda.
“So Fox News is upset that empty-headed puppets are trying to brainwash and indoctrinate Americans?”
“Perhaps you could sue them,” Stewart joked. “The charge could be copyright infringement.”
