Police in the city of Rensselaer, New York say that on Sunday, they arrested two individuals who were each driving under the influence when their vehicles collided at an intersection.

According to the Albany Times-Union, James Macarelli, 43, of Rensselaer, and Jaide Rios, 21, of Albany, were taken into custody after their cars slammed into each other at 3:34 a.m. when they approached an intersection from different directions.

Rios had a blood alcohol level of .20 percent, more than twice the legal limit of .08 percent, and was arrested. Macarelli was treated for minor injuries at St. Peter’s Hospital, then released into police custody.
