Friday night on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” host Bill Maher dedicated the final part of his weekly “New Rules” segment to the group Focus on the Family and other conservative Christians, asking them, “Is Jesus just dicking you around?”

“If you’re doing God’s work and God is perfect, how come you’re always wrong?” he said. “Is it that you can’t follow instructions or is Jesus just dicking you around?”

“The reason I ask,” Maher continued, “is because in 2008, Focus on the Family tried to frighten their vast mailing list of snake-handlers and early-onset dementia patients by sending out a letter with a set of predictions of what our nation would look like if we elected that Evil Count Chocula as our president.”

As Slacktivist reported earlier this month, Focus on the Family got absolutely none of their 34 predictions right.

No, pornography is not freely for sale to minors at gas stations, people still say the pledge of allegiance and the ending of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” has not led to the military having “a Fire Island cruise sponsored by lube.”

Maher called Focus on the Family a cross between Westboro Baptist Church and Bain Capital and asked, “Is there no penalty in America any more for just being wrong? Wrong. Forget ideology… you thought something in the future would go a certain way, great stakes were riding on whether you got it right, and you didn’t.”
