A senior aide for Missouri Senate candidate Rep. Todd Akin (R) on Monday joked that Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill was a “Bullshitsu” dog.

“If Claire McCaskill were a dog, she’d be a ‘Bullshitsu,’” Rick Tyler tweeted around noon.

Tyler was alluding to comments made by Akin on Saturday. At a fundraising event, Akin said his opponent was like a dog because she fetches “taxes and red tape and bureaucracy and executive orders and agencies” from Washington, D.C. and brings it to Missouri.

McCaskill spokesperson Caitlin Legacki told KMOX that Tyler’s comments made her “speechless.”

“And very curious to know whether Todd Akin agrees with that comment,” she said.

Earlier this year, the Republican congressman offended female voters by asserting that victims of a “legitimate rape” could no become pregnant because the female body had ways to “shut that whole thing down.” He later compounded problems by insisting that McCaskill had not appeared “ladylike” during their latest debate.
