Actor and comedian Will Ferrell lent his name — and quirky sensibility — to an new Obama campaign web ad encouraging people to get to the polls on Tuesday, November 6. In it, he promises to do “anything” if viewers vote.

Some of his suggestions:

  • Cook for you.
  • Help you move a couch.
  • Give you a tattoo.
  • Do a personal dance for you.
  • Eat anything you tell him to, including “underpants.”
  • Punch himself in the face.

The Obama campaign has been emphasizing the importance of people voting in the 2012 election in a major way since the Democratic Convention in September. New voter turnout — and especially early voter turnout– in 2008 is widely credited with Obama’s swing state wins that year. With dampened enthusiasm for the incumbent president, especially among erstwhile liberal supporters, the campaign continues to push for people to return to the polls in 2012 (or go for the first time), and has used celebrities like Scarlett Johansson and others to encourage people.
