A Fox 19 news anchor returned to work on Tuesday after being suspended for calling MSNBC host Rachel Maddow an “angry young man.”
Tricia Macke received a two-day suspension for the comment she made in October, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Macke’s Facebook comments were noticed by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). Last week, the group called on the Cincinnati Fox affiliate to “take swift action to condemn Macke’s remarks,” saying her comment was “completely unacceptable for someone in the business of journalism.”
Macke apologized for the “insensitive and inappropriate” comments on Friday.
“I apologize to Ms. Maddow and any others who may have been offended by my comments, as they do not reflect my firm beliefs in individual and equal rights, and they certainly do not represent the opinions or position of my employer WXIX-TV,” she said in a statement.
