Fox News personality Stuart Varney falsely claimed on Tuesday that liberal investor George Soros was linked to upcoming protests at Wal-Mart.

“George Soros, through MoveOn.org, has sent out an email nationwide urging everybody who has an interest in this to turn up at a Wal-Mart on Friday and demonstration,” he told Fox News host Megyn Kelly.

“The [National Labor Relations Board] is powerless to stop George Soros mobilizing people in favor of unionization, in favor of better working conditions at Wal-Mart. So no matter what the NLRB does, these demonstrations will take place,” Varney continued.

The 82-year-old Jewish billionaire has been demonized by political activist Lyndon LaRouche and pundit Glenn Beck, who both claim he is at the center of various conspiracy theories. Soros has donated millions to liberal groups like the ACLU and the Center for American Progress.

Soros is not a member of MoveOn.org. The liberal group received $1.46 million from Soros in 2004, but MoveOn.org has not received any donations from him since.
