Fox News’ resident psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow on Wednesday offered his professional opinion that a woman was “nuts” for buying her son a doll because it was “gender bending.”

During a “Normal or Nuts?” segment on Fox & Friends, the Fox News Medical A-Team member responded to a viewer who was worried because her nephew played with dolls and her niece played with action figures.

“I would say to this woman, you’re sister-in-law is — drum roll — nuts,” Ablow declared. “I am fairly well know for not loving gender bending. I don’t think it helps anybody. I don’t think it’s so bad that boys be boys.”

“My dad didn’t even want me to be with G.I. Joes,” co-host Brian Kilmeade volunteered.

“Unless they were clad in warrior gear with big giant swords!” Ablow agreed. “What’s so bad about kids being able to be masculine and feminine? Do we have to wrench this into some non-genderness? This woman is nuts.”

But many professionals like William Pollack, who works as a psychologist and child behavior expert at Harvard Medical School, do not agree with Ablow’s assessment.

In fact, Pollack told ABC News that it is “absolutely normal” for a boy to play with dolls.

Last year, Ablow compared transgender reality star Chaz Bono to an anorexic and heroin addict.

“This is an exact parallel,” he told Fox News host Bill O’Reilly. “We have somebody who is not a man, asserting that he is a man.”
