The Onion: Pope joins Twitter, gives up Catholicism to connect with youth

After the Pope met with some criticism and mockery for joining the social networking site Twitter, The Onion “reported” that he has decided that “giving up on Catholicism” will also allow him to better connect with Christian youth.

It’s not enough to simply join Facebook or Twitter. “In order to really relate to modern teens, he needs to make religion a much smaller part of his busy life, just like they do,” The Onion quotes one archbishop as saying.

In the fake news clip, the Pope allegedly tweets, “I’m still catholic I just don’t go to church or believe in Jesus.”

“Look,” says one young woman in the video, “He just tweeted, ‘I’m not religious, I’m just spiritual. That’s totally how I feel.’”
