A Ugandan pastor who opposes LGBT rights recently explained why he thought homosexuality was dangerous by giving a bizarre demonstration of gay sex with the assistance of fruits and vegetables.

In an appearance on the NBS talk show Morning Breeze, Reverend Martin Ssempa warned that gay men and lesbians “have more chance of experiencing death from HIV.”

“When you take a man –- this is a man’s genitals — you insert them into the intestine, OK?” he said, while using a banana to have simulated intercourse with his hand. “They put their genitals into their excretory system…this excretory system is not designed to receive, it is only for exit!”

Ssempa additionally pointed out that lesbians and transgender men “don’t have the equipment” so “they begin to use gadgets like bananas, they use carrots, they use bananas, they use cucumbers and other metalized ones, and they put them inside themselves…because they are not normal.”

As the pastor ranted, transgender activist Pepe Onziema, who also appeared on the show, could be heard telling the host, “I cannot believe you would put me on this show with a hooligan.”

At a press conference in 2010, Ssempa showed reporters a pornographic slideshow of scatological fetishism because he said that it proved LGBT people were “animalistic.”

“I want to say homosexuals eat each other’s poop. Homosexuals stick their hands into their rectum. Homosexuals stick all sorts of deviant sexual things into their rectum,” he insisted. “This is a man eating the other person’s poo poo, can you see that one? Please from BBC, I want you to tell them, we know what they do.”

Ssempa is a high-profile supporter of Uganda’s so-called “kill the gays” bill. Last month, the country’s Legal and Parliamentary committee endorsed the bill but substituted life in prison for the death penalty if someone is found guilty of “touching another person with intent of committing homosexuality.”
