A man dressed as Nintendo’s “Super Mario” was arrested in New York’s Times Square on Wednesday after a woman claimed the character cornered her and forcibly grabbed her thigh.
It wasn’t actually Nintendo’s “Super Mario,” however: The New York Daily News reported that the man turned out to be 34-year-old Damon Torres, a street performer who works for tips.
The woman told a security guard she’d had a problem with the character before, and the guard reported Torres to police.
Torres also faces a charge relating to possession of marijuana.
