The father of the man who shot and killed 26 people in the Dec. 14 attack on Newtown, Connecticut school has claimed his son’s remains, the Associated Press reported Monday.

A family spokesperson did not say when Peter Lanza claimed the remains of his son Adam, who killed himself after killing 20 first-grade students and six staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary. The spokesperson also did not say what plans the family had regarding services for the younger Lanza.

The gunman’s mother, Nancy Lanza, was buried in a private service in New Hampshire earlier this month. Police said her son took weapons belonging to her and shot her prior to attacking the school.

According to CNN, both Peter Lanza and the gunman’s brother, Ryan Lanza, were questioned by authorities after the Sandy Hook shooting. At one point, Ryan Lanza was misidentified as being behind the assault.
