Former Republican presidential contender Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is having trouble finding a single co-sponsor to sign on to her latest bill attempting to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as “Obamacare.” According to Think Progress, several Republican bills aimed at the ACA are encountering similar problems on Capitol Hill, even as states across the country — including some with Republican governors — adopt the provisions of the Act.

Bachmann made her bill, titled “To repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and health care-related provisions in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010,” her first order of business upon returning to Congress. Republicans voted unsuccessfully to overturn the ACA 33 times since it was signed.

Also languishing, co-sponsor-less, is Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ)’s measure attempting to invalidate the individual mandate portion of the ACA. Rep. Steve King (R-IA)’s bill attempting to repeal the entire law finally gained two co-sponsors on Tuesday after being introduced nearly two weeks ago, tea party Reps. Billy Long (R-MO) and Steven Palazzo (R-MI).

Meanwhile states across the country are implementing the ACA’s provisions. Even Republican strongholds like Arizona are Florida are on the verge of adopting the program’s Medicare expansions.

Bachmann’s former presidential campaign is currently embroiled in a lawsuit and a criminal investigation over possible misuse of mailing list during the run-up to the Iowa caucus. Reportedly, former staffers who refused to sign a gag order over things they witnessed during the campaign are still waiting to get paid. Bachmann won the Iowa straw poll in the Republican primaries, which proved to be the highlight of her run for the presidency.
