Former president Jimmy Carter told CNN on Thursday that he believed his grandson was the reason Barack Obama was still President of the United States.

“That’s kind of a prejudice,” he said, laughing.

Carter’s grandson, James Carter IV, discovered the infamous “47 percent” video of Mitt Romney on the Internet and shared it with David Corn of Mother Jones. At the time, James was working as a freelance Democratic opposition researcher.

“It was something he could not deny and it stuck with him for the rest of the election and I think it was a major factor, if not the major factor,” Carter said.

“When James went to meet President Obama, President Obama ran across the room, embraced him and thanked him profusely — first time, by the way.”
