Fox contributor Monica Crowley: ‘Republicans have done nothing but compromise’

Fox News Channel contributor Monica Crowley on Wednesday denied that Republicans in Congress were using obstruction as a key strategy against President Barack Obama

“President Obama and the Democrats had massive majorities in his first two years, so lets get off the obstructionist point,” she said. “After that, when the Republicans got control of the House, Republicans have done nothing but compromise. They tried to compromise on the tax ceiling. They compromised on the fiscal cliff. They gave President Obama the tax hike he wanted. Where is the balance coming from the President?”

Fox News host Megyn Kelly noted the tax increase was set to go into effect due to expiring tax breaks.

“They could have blocked that,” Crowley claimed. “They gave it to him.”

Republicans in the Senate have routinely filibustered legislation, forcing Democrats to muster a super-majority of 60 votes to pass bills. Democrats had a filibuster proof majority in the Senate between September 24, 2009 and February 4, 2010, less than five months.
