A young man with a burgeoning fanbase online has released his second video on Friday mixing the Lord of The Rings saga with another popular franchise.

James Walters, or “IJamesWalters,” as he is known on YouTube, released a cover of Gary Jules’ version of the Tears For Fears song “Mad World,” with the twist being that he performs the song while doing an uncanny impression of Smeagol, the character played by Andy Serkis in the films based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s books.

Jules’ version of the tune came into prominence after being featured in the cult hit Donnie Darko. Besides not breaking character, Walters tweaks the lyrics to fit the character.

“Our tears are filling up this lakeses because Baggins takeses,” he sings, looking directly into the camera. “Oh, how we hateses him.”

The “Mad World” video is only Walters’ second posting, but his first effort, a Gollum-ized cover of the Les Miserables song, “I Dreamed A Dream,” has been watched more than 1.1 million times since Feb. 18.

Watch Walters, as Smeagol, and his version of “Mad World,” as posted Friday, below.
