A newborn boy delivered via emergency C-section died on Monday morning, a day after his parents were killed by a hit-and-run driver currently at large, NBC News reported.

According to WNBC, the boy’s father and mother, Nachman and Raizy Glauber, were killed early Sunday morning when their livery cab was hit by a gray BMW sedan, forcing the child to be delivered prematurely and placed in intensive care.

The Glaubers, each of them 21 years old, died in separate hospitals. Members of the Brooklyn Hasidic community held a public service Sunday afternoon, and vowed to care for the child.

“The baby has no worry at all about being well raised and well taken care of,” said Isaac Abraham, a local activist and neighbor of Raizy Glauber’s parents. “There’s going to be such community outreach from psychological to moral to financial assistance, that’s the least worry, the child should just make it.”

Sara Glauber, a cousin of Nachman Glauber’s, said the couple was on its way to a hospital after Raizy said she was feeling ill.

Authorities said the two people in the sedan at the time of the accident, an unidentified male driver and a passenger, fled the scene. The owner of the BMW, 29-year-old Takia Walker, was arrested early Monday morning on insurance fraud charges. The driver was allegedly not listed on her insurance policy for the vehicle.

The driver of the livery cab was listed in stable condition as of Monday morning.
