Police in Farmington, New Mexico said they’re on the lookout for whoever shot a local puppy in the hind leg with a crossbow, leaving the poor creature yelping in pain.

The local animal shelter removed the crossbow bolt from the puppy’s leg and transferred him to a facility in Durango, Colorado.

Staff there told CBS Denver they’ve named the 3-month-old Jack Russell/Shepherd mix “Bow,” and he’s recovering nicely from his injury. He’s expected to be adopted sometime soon.

Meanwhile if you’re a New Mexico resident who has any ideas about who may have shot Bow with an arrow, call the Farmington police at (505) 599-1070.
