A man who accused former “Sesame Street” Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash, 52, of underage sex has withdrawn his complaint, E! News learned Wednesday.
Clash still faces three other suits accusing him of underage sex with teen boys, but court documents filed April 15 showed that the original plaintiff has withdrawn his allegations.
The most recent lawsuit, filed in March, alleges that Clash had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy who he plied with drugs and alcohol. The suit also claimed that Sesame Workshop tried to discredit the plaintiff “in order to protect its employee and the image of one of its most valuable characters.” The other two suits contain similar allegations.
“We took the allegation very seriously and took immediate action,” Sesame Workshop said in a prepared statement at the time of the initial allegations. “We met with the accuser twice and had repeated communications with him. We also conducted a thorough investigation and found the allegation of underage conduct to be unsubstantiated. Although this was a personal relationship unrelated to the workplace, our investigation did reveal that Kevin exercised poor judgment and violated company policy regarding internet usage and he was disciplined.”
