Security guards surrounded a building at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology late Thursday after shots were fired, the prestigious university said on its website.

“Please stay clear of area until further notice. Unknown if injuries have occurred,” the emergency alert notice said.

MIT is located in Boston, where two bombs at the city’s marathon killed three people and injured 180 on Monday.
