A radio show in northern California lashed out at its critics on Thursday after it was pulled off the air for making callous jokes about the Boston Marathon bombing.

CBS13 reported Entercom’s KRXQ 98 Rock pulled the The Rob, Arnie and Dawn Show off the air after radio host and “shock jock” Don Geronimo criticized the the morning show.

In response, the radio show hosts said in a statement posted on their website that the station had “allowed itself to be bullied and misled.” The radio hosts insisted they “did not, would not, and under no circumstances have intended in any way to have been insensitive, callous, dismissive, disparaging or otherwise to or of the victims of the Boston tragedy.”

They described Gernomino as a “bottom-feeder” and “local thug” who was only looking to use the Boston Marathon bombing for his own personal gain.

“To this, we at the Rob, Arnie and Dawn Show say, you’re a sad, pathetic character, shame on you, and shame on 98 Rock and their parent company, Entercom Communications,” they concluded. “We encourage our faithful listeners and all other truth-seekers to call in and email. As always, thank you for your support — and you may hear us again in Sacramento Monday!”

On Thursday, Geronimo played clips of their comments.

Rob, Arnie and Dawn talked about creating a list of five things they hated about Boston, saying that was how they expressed “solidarity” with the city. Arnie said he could come up with nine things he hated about the city, and later callously joked that a man whose legs were blown off while watching his girlfriend run in the marathon could “hold that over her head forever.” Rob also mocked Oakland A’s fans who chanted “Lets Go Boston!” on Tuesday night, saying it was “sickening.”

The Rob, Arnie and Dawn Show previously faced criticism in 2009 for comments the hosts made regarding transgender individuals.
