A North Dakota NBC affiliate has fired its newest anchor after he started his new job by uttering the words “fucking shit” as the weekend news broadcast began.

As anchor Van Tieu was introducing A.J. Clemente for his first ever KFYR-TV broadcast on Sunday, he could be heard uttering the unfortunate phrase.

“Fucking shit,” Clemente said, looking down and mumbling as if he had no idea that the broadcast had begun.

Obviously confused by the profanity, Tieu briefly paused before giving Clemente a chance to say hello the the audience.

“That couldn’t have gone any worse!” Clemente later Tweeted. “Tough day,Thanks for the support,We all make mistakes. Im truly sorry for mine. I’ll try my hardest to come back better and learn from this.”

But as it turned out, the anchor would never have that chance to “come back better” at KRYR.

“Unfortunately KFYRTV has decided to let me go,” he wrote on Monday. “Thank you to them and everyone in ND for the opportunity and everyone for the support.”

“Rookie mistake. I’m a free agent.Cant help but laugh at myself and stay positive.Wish i didnt trip over my ‘Freaking Shoes’ out of the gate.”
